Benny Schmitt’s Road Trip to Jackson

As I sat in front of my window in South Tahoe, I sighed at the sight of dirt, and a half ass, once was, “front yard park.”  A depressing sight to say the least!  As I was nervously awaiting new snow, I was grasping at the fact of where I could go that would be feasible before my trip to Europe and AK.

My good friend Ty Dayberry gave me a ring and said he needed company on a trip to Jackson, and I’m not talking Jackson, CA, I am talking about Jackson Hole Wyoming.  You know the place where you go down the wrong shit, and you’re either hiking back up or sacking the hell up.  Our buddy Dan the river man lives out there, so we super Dodged from Tahoe to Wilson Wyoming, 800 miles, 12 hours: we were super tired, but couldn’t have felt better with the reassurance of fresh snow and closeout lines.

Got to Danny’s house like… three in the morning, haggard!  I did a good amount of sleeping the first day, little R&R, and pumped myself up at the sight of classic Jackson shelves.  Our friend Frenchie (Telemark extraordinaire) set us up to shoot with Teton Gravity Research photographer Greg Von Doersten. Check him out at www.gregvondoersten.com, super dope dude, took us out to Green River, which is some BC access off of Jackson; you would recognize it from the films if you saw it.

We shot some cliff bans, stomped a couple one eight zero’s, had a real good time. After that day we ran up to Targhee, where we had a room to exploit for a few days, and views that would excite many. We got some real dope skiing in, saw an assortment of wildlife, got a taste of the real wild west, and now were heading back to Tahoe because we are getting straight puked on.  hahaha! How sweet it is!  Oh yeah! that’s my friend Flea, on the washer, he says ride Lib-Tech NAS.
