Mervin Olympics

NW Waterboard Rep Ryan Davis took out some local dealers for some fun and games:

The NW hosted the 1st annual Mervin Olympics.

With the help of the Grease Bus, we scooped up 14 select Mervin retail staff members and headed to the Olympic Peninsula. Starting with a Mervin Mfg factory tour (by Norm Nelson) and then off to the Sullivan farm for camping, bbq and the Mervin Olympics.

The Mervin Game’s consisted of 3 backwoods games to crown a winner of the Mervin Olympics.

  1. Nail, or Naggle… or a PA hybrid of the 2
  2. BB-Gun quick draw
  3. Golf : working class style, w/ beer and sharing clubs. 3 man team scramble

Each person accumulated points throughout the 3 day trip, and decide the winners.

  • 1st place: A new Lib Waterboard
  • 2nd place: A Lib Tech “Stormfactory” outerwear kit
  • 3rd place: A new Lib Tech skateboard

Day 1 we had an insane bb-q, jammed out in Scott Sullivan’s jam space, drank lots of beer and held the NAIL.

Day 2 was a hangover, surf mission deep on the coast of the Olympic Peninsula, Golf and then a search for late night munchies.

Day 3 was breakfast burritos, BB-Gun quick draw and the tally to determine the Mervin Olympic winners… 10 point bonus for keeping your recycled fork on your person.

Results:

  • 1st: Kinsey from Evo, Seattle WA
  • 2nd: Mitch from Gorge Performance, Portland OR
  • 3rd: Shaun from BC Surf and Sport, Seattle WA

The surf mission served well with good waves for the more advanced surfers, to easy going whitewater for those new to the cold ocean.

The good news was that we collected a nice quiver of new LIB Waterboards for the crew to try. Everyone was frothing and trading waves and swapping boards. Mitch hit me up in an e-mail to see if I could credit his outerwear 2nd place prize towards a Lib Waterboard. The boys like how they paddled, how they looked and especially, how they surfed.

I’m already looking forward to next years Mervin Olympics where I plan to not loose in Nail, or in BB-Gun quick draw…

Thanks for making rad toys Mervin!

And big thanks to:
