Throwback Thursday: Hightech Packaged Hardcore

Check this old school shot from a German magazine circa 1991, Mike Olson is the tall one with the green hair..see the uncanny resemblance…, Pete Saari is  the skinny Tarzan in a util-a-kilt, Nick Russian as Harry Potter and Paul Ferrel as Fabio.

Here is the translation:

HIGHTECH PACKAGED HARDCORE
The Americans are riding a creative wave while building national pride: No longer made in Germany proven quality, but made in the USA quality instead. That’s how Mike Olson and Pete Saari from Seattle are raising the bar with their trendy new Board manufacturing LIB TECH. Mike is proud to be the only one to offer slalom boards in single core construction (especially torsionally stiff core construction). This supposedly ultra lightweight technology is packaged however the color and design artists feel fits. Whoever wants to rip Lib Techs, can just call Mike (shipping to Europe available) and talk on his computer. But theres some other brands on the up and up besides Lib Tech that also want to prosper across the big pond: Agression, Axis, Body Glove, Joyride, Lamar, Morrow, Moss, Nacked Boards, Nectar, Sin and Sonic.

MADE IN CSFR
The East is catching up: The czech company Vasa is offering 2 asymmetrical Freestyle boards. The scene pioneer, Ivan Dragor from Prag, is the initiator. And not all boards are meant for export: There’s a wild snowboard scene in the CSFR with lots of races and expeditions…
