25 Years With Lib Tech – the Matt Cummins Documentary

Matt Cummins has the longest running pro model in snowboarding’s history, 25 years and counting. He has used this opportunity to continually push snowboard designs from the earliest skate influenced twin tip MC Kink to today’s powder hungry Nootka. His designs, priorities and style forever changed the sport and paved the way for generations of pros. We are proud to celebrate Matt’s 25 years with Mervin Manufacturing and the Lib Tech brand. This video is just a taste of the legacy of Matt and the Cummins family!

“His board was a ground breaking concept. It spear headed twin tip freestyle snowboarding, it created a genre. To have that kind of a brick in the foundation of snowboarding is truly a special thing. Matt deserves and is owed every ounce of that brick and it’s a big one. Matt and what he stood for and the way he rode and why he rode Lib Tech made me want to ride and be a part of what he stood for as well. Throughout the years having him build such a legacy with his board, he packaged all that awesomeness up, put a nice little bow on it and handed it right off to me and for that I can’t thank him enough. I owe him everything. What I’ve been able to achieve in my career came from Matt Cummins. I don’t think he get’s enough credit, so this is the opportunity, Matt, thank you so much brother.”Jamie Lynn

Any reason u guys stopped the the kinked nose and tail? Those early libs were so light they said it stopped flex and increased torsion strength

We met Matt and Temple camping at Timberline in the summer of 88 or 89. I had heard from Don Jayne the owner of Green Sector in southern California that you could snowboard in the summer at Mt. Hood. My friend Tim and I both 16 years old could hardly wait to get up there. When we got there we could see a small crew of snowboarders and that was when we met the Cummins brothers! They told us about this huge crevasse that Matt was jumping, next day after seeing the crevasse jump we were blown away and knew this guy was the man! The impression our experience around the Cummin brother’s left was deep and was passed to a little friend of our’s Bryan Iguchi.

Matt you are truly a gentleman and a OneBall-er! A humble minister of historical significance in the church of Shred.

I did the wave art on Matt’s board. It’s nice to see how well received this board was/is. I need to get my hands on this board after all these years. Congrats Matt!
