Q&A:

How many birds can you slip into one painting?
There really are no
limitations to the number of birds in a painting. I say go big. The real question is what kind of bird do you get when getting a neck tattoo? You have to be careful and get up to date with what the bird represents in prison… you can’t go into that one feigning ignorance.

When you go right at Pakala whose front yard to you end up in?
Could be
the man in the gray suit. That neighborhood looks pretty localized and I
think the boys like it just the way it is… not blown out and no tourists.
You know someone that lives there…?

How does skateboarding and snowboarding relate to your art?
Same freedom factor, you can just point it and not have to stop to ask for directions or permission.

How did a white dude from the NW get so damn Irie?
The climate caters to it. Easy bro… you’re harshing my mello.

Does your beautiful wife know how lucky she is to have you in her life?
Jami is solid. I think we balance each other out pretty well. That one goes both ways for sure.

When executing a cutback on a 3" thick retro Al Merrick does it help
to grab your nuts?

That Merrick is a pre-Burton Merrick… No nut grab. Most likely an over excited look on my face and a kooky "I snowboarded before I surfed" stance. Either way… it’s always nice to be on a wave that will let you lay one down..

I once was really stoned walking through the forest and came to a  wooden bridge over a deep river canyon…it was so beautiful I had to take all my clothes off and meditate for 15 minutes…does this ever happen to you?
I keep the clothes on. No more herb overdoses for me… one mystic brownie fiasco lead me to stay within my means. I do have some fond memories of a certain friend running for his sanity on several occasions… maybe stick to the drinks. Chalmers nearly destroyed you..

Do you ever paint switch?
I do every now and then. Nothing detailed… I blew my right shoulder out a few times and learned to use the lefty…mostly for ping pong.

Is there any audible sound when an art project is done?
Clean up that mess"… coming from my wonderful wife as I have taken over the living room
for a month..

Last words:
Big thanks to Mervin for staying as real as this capitalist world will allow, for inspiring me to paint and for continuing to make the best toys on the planet.
Stay Irie Poney Mon
