Q&A

Tell us about your first time riding a banana:

I don’t remember the first day I rode one. But I haven’t ridden anything since. Not having tip and tail contact at all times makes for a very skatey feel; you un-weight and the contact is all between your feet. Best switch powder turns ever.

What was your scariest experience this season?
Rolling a sled stand-up tandoming on an icy cat track in Perberton, going about 60mph.

When did you start snowboarding and how was your first day?
I remember my cousin Scott pushing me over the crest of this little sledding hill at Crystal Mt. on his Terry Kidwell when I was about seven or eight. That was mellow, so we hiked over to this little powder patch and he pushed me off a little knob over some brush into a small decline. His stance was regular, and it felt a bit awkward, but I got a little air and made it to the bottom. I didn’t really snowboard much until I was fourteen or fifteen though.

Best skateboarding experience?
Camping out on Orcas Island for a week. Skating until it gets too hot, then going swimming until it cools down enough to skate again. Barbeque at night and pass a bottle around the fire. Sleep. Repeat.

I met Blair at Crystal Mt. in the days of him ruling it on his downhill skis racing then switching to his snowboard, you could see just how much he loved it. I went to Blair's parents house one day to pick him up or something, the stack of seasons passes that hung on the wall are insane, all the years from super little kid on up to the now...truly impressive...blair will be riding forever. i think it is in his blood. ~Temple
