“It’s all green. Every aspect of this snowboard that we were able to inject green pigment into, we did. We went above and beyond to make the manufacturing process of this board have the least environmental impact as absolutely possible. Thanks to having our very own factory right here in the great GREEN state of Washington, we get to be experiMENTAL with alternative sustainable manufacturing techniques. Using eco materials that nature (and the ski industry) never intended to be used in snowboards. We hope you appreciate the effort, and the color. Enjoy.” – Scott E Wittlake

“- Scott E Wittlake

Worlds Greenest Snowboard Construction

I was checking this board for waist width, but it seems like you have put your side cut down.

  • Josh

I’m contemplating THE GREENEST for the upcoming season. I’m 5’9″ 170lbs and I’ looking for a board to ride all mountain and pow days. Currently I’m riding a GNU Space Case for Park/All Mountain but wanted something that’s more aggressive to complement the Space Case. Any other suggestions?

  • Just got it updated! 25.7cm

  • Hi Josh,
Anything with more camber will be your friend for a more aggressive board to add to your quiver!
Perhaps the TRS, Travis Rice Pro or Hot Knife!

  • J Mutch

    Nice one, thanks

One more question… Is this DC3? Is the nose more mellow than tail?

  • Hi Josh,
The full specs are hidden unless you press “VIEW ALL SPECS” at the bottom right corner of the table above, but the nose width is 30.8cm and the tail width is 29.2cm, so the board is tapered and fatter at the nose. It also has a setback of .5″, making this board directional. It also has our C3 base contour..so it is DC3.

But I’m not sure if I’d consider it more mellow at the nose? It’s not C1 like the La Nina. And the C3/camber is centered–but it is definitely a directional board!

  • Joshua Srnka

    Excellent! thanks for the help.

Aloha Lib- I’ve got a Gnu Beast, great deck, my go-to for powder days. Design wise, how different is this deck? Other than green-ness, looks pretty similar. Glad you’re doing more C3 stuff! If you made a variant of this deck as a TT camber twin + mag I’d be all over it!

This one has 16mm taper which is significant, while the beast is pretty mild at 3-4mm depending on size… the greenest’s nose is what get’s wider, but the tails are pretty much the same width. beast also has a longer nose, and longer contact length. if I remember correctly, the setback leaves the beast with about 5″ longer nose than tail (measured to the tips), while the wittlake is about 3″

In general, the beast is more of your high speed geometry freeride board… deep and variable snow, big turns… while the greenest is a little more surfy, maybe with a little more of a freestyle feel in mind, although it has C3 camber for a regular-camber powerful feel. the current beast is rocker dominant, though an aggressive version… still powerful, but floats better. both are true all-around natural terrain type of boards, but they have their differences. if you want something with C3 that floats well, the wittlake would be a good choice

  • Hi Rob,
The Gnu Beast is built as an XC2 these days, more of a camber/Banana hybrid. But in addition the Greenest board is wider and has a more substantial taper than the Beast. The Greenest is also less setback–so you’ll still get unbelievable float in powder, but it’s more of a freestyle focused powder board. the Beat is really geared towards powder because of the 3″ setback. Lastly, the Greenest has a bit more sidecut, so you’ll probably find you can turn a little quicker with it.

  • Alex

With a relatively low side cut of 8.2, does this board still cut hard and tight?

  • Spenser Johnson

it’s not that mellow of a sidecut.. compared to most mervins, this one likes a slightly quicker turn, but still holds that steady downhill rhythm we love from mervin. I ride this one almost every day unless it gets deep, because it’s a blast for groomer carvin’ and airblaster-ing around. rides well switch too, and I’m using extra setback as well.

  • Alex

Awesome thanks for the input! Im picking one up !
