Brandon Reis in “Methods of Prediction” and Interview

Brandon Reis is a New Hampshire park rat turned contest kid who fought his way up in the ranks and made a name for him self (along side long time friend Sam Hulbert) as a consistent freestyle powerhouse.  At the tender time in snowboarding between cab nines and triple corks Sam and Brandon were pushing one another jump by jump, contest to contest, quietly innovating from within the Dew Tours and Canadian Opens where they battled to stand out from the rest of the rippers.

Although appearing to be your average American dude, Reis harbors a hyper creative wild streak that was waiting to break out.  This wild streak led him to filming for Think Thank starting with “Mind The Video Man” and progressively getting better and better leading up to this year’s “Methods of Prediction”.

The energy, hilarity, randomness, fearlessness and sheer talent of Reis continue to propel him into new amazing places.  We are so stoked to have him ripping with Lib Tech!  Enjoy Brandon Reis 2015, video part, Tim Zimmerman gallery and a mini-interview to meet the man behind the beast.

How was it getting to stay home in New Hampshire and film almost your whole video part for “Methods of Prediction”?
It’s awesome! I always enjoy being in NH. Sleeping in my bed is always great too. It’s sick when I finally can film on something that I found. Also when everything is 20 minutes from where you are, it’s dope!

You’ve been known to film some pretty questionable selfie driveway videos.  Why, how and where can the people see them?
The only problem with being home is I don’t get to skate with too many people in my home town. This gets me to do a lot of skating alone and I just start dorking around and filming it. Put your phone against something, start using your brain, and create whatever for others enjoyment. @reis_the_beast on instagram has some funny stuff

If you were on a reality TV show, which one would it be?
Survivor would be sick, Naked and Afraid would be fun as hell! Oh I want to be on the show Wipe Out!

How did you go from contest guy to video part guy?  What’s that been like?  Which do you enjoy more?
I feel like I made that transition because contests were killing the fun I had snowboarding. You know the saying “if your not first your last”. Well this is true in competition. Being a contest kid you really do just feel like your last if you don’t win. I hated this feeling! When I got the opportunity to film again it was awesome. I get to snowboard how I want, where I want, and not feel like I have one chance and one chance only to land something.

With all that said, I do love filming more because I feel like a snowboarder in a movie I use to watch when I was little. At the same time though I will always have a slightly competitive side to me that keeps me progressing.

Sam Hulbert….please elaborate.
Oh Sam! One of my best friends, we have a crazy group of friends and he is for sure a stand out. Well we all are in our own special ways. He is one of my biggest influences and is such a sick rider. He’s a wild man, “High School Hulbert” has not learned to party yet, but have any of us really?

Your nickname is Reis The Beast, how did you get that?
Um I think I may have gotten it from Tanner Mccarty. I think I got it because of doing crazy stuff. A lot of dumb shit, weird shit, crazy shit. On and off my snowboard. I just love to not be a wuss and make people smile and laugh.

Brody Jenner is known to toss up the occasional gram of you wake boarding.  Are you getting a sex change?
Brody and I wake boarded together in NH this summer while he was visiting our family. We both ate shit on that thing that day and had a great time. It’s always fun hanging with him. I’m not getting a sex change but I have thought about what it would be like being a hot chick!

Your art, Mona Reisa, has been called, and I quote, “The abstract post mod-pop musings of Ke$ha and Jeffrey Dahmer’s 4 year old love child.”  Care to comment? That is a crazy description and I like it! Weird is my game, it’s just so fun. I don’t like being one thing or doing one thing. When I draw stuff I just think “it doesn’t matter”. Draw anything, draw it weird. Monareisa will be seen by all hopefully sooner then later. She’s a bad bitch. (@monareisa on instagram)
