The Throwdown is coming! The Throwdown is coming! Lib Tech’s Downtown Throwdown is packed up and heading to Boston!
Another legendary city, new features, next level shredding and $20K in prize money…it’s gonna be a wicked pissah! The Downtown Throwdown (DTTD) has grown from a local DIY project to the most anticipated and respected urban snowboarding event in the world, while entertaining tens of thousands of people over the past eight years in Seattle, San Francisco and Minneapolis. “I’m so stoked to bring this event to Boston” said event creator Krush Kulesza, “when we decided to bring it to the East Coast, this was the obvious choice…plus man…Aerosmith!”
The DTTD has always set itself apart from other events by specifically choosing riders who focus on filming video parts and are out changing the face of urban snowboarding…and this year’s line-up continues to back that up. Forest Bailey, Dylan Thompson, Ted Borland, Dillon Ojo, Brandon Reis, Andrew Brewer, Mike Rav, Jaeger Bailey, Spencer Shubert and Dylan Alito are among the 25 riders chasing $20,000 in the famous DTTD giant cardboard I.O.U.’s. To date, the DTTD has paid out over $100,000.00!
Fifteen New England hometown-hero riders will also compete in The Feeders! last chance qualifier earlier in the day with the top 3 moving on to the main event.
When it’s all over, one of these riders will also have the bragging rights of joining a very heavy list of past DTTD winners including: Dan Brisse, Jed Anderson (twice), Nick Visconti, Brandon Hobush (twice), Dylan Alito, Nial Romanek and last year’s winner, Ryan Paul (twice).
This year’s event will also be webcast to the world thanks to our friends at Snowboarder Magazine! So whether you’re in the crowd or on your couch, you can be entertained by the southing voices of Think Thank owner/Lib Tech Ripper Jesse Burtner, Crab Grab’s Preston Strout and Snowboarder Magazine’s Tom “T. Bird” Monterosso.
To continue the name dropping-DWD owner and longtime DTTD supporter, Sean Genovese will once again head-up our judgeMENTAL team that will include Massachusetts’s own Chris Grenier and Lib Tech legend Scotty Wittlake.
Not enough yet? How ‘bout autograph signings from pro riders like Jamie Lynn, Eric Jackson and Forest Bailey? How ‘bout sponsor booths with prizes and new gear to check out? Raffles for snowboards and other great prizes? Yes…this will be THE event of the year!
Grab a friend and get to City Hall Plaza at noon on Saturday, October 18 to witness the next chapter in this bitchin’ and FREE event!
Huge thanks to Adidas Snowboarding, Snowboarder Magazine, Eastern Boarder, Loon Mountain, Diecutstickers.com, Windells Camp, Dig Boston and the city of Boston for making it all possible.
